Karla Quevedo is native of San José, Costa Rica who has spent significant time studying, working and living abroad. Karla moved to the United States during high school to perfect her English and continue her education. Ultimately Karla graduated from Duke University School of Law with an LLM in Corporate and International Law. After graduating from Duke she moved to Geneva, Switzerland to pursue Comparative Law Studies at the Duke-Geneva Institute in Transactional Law.
Karla has a diverse background and skill set. Her deep knowledge of the Costa Rican market comes from her roots in the area and her prior extensive legal and business experience. She has lived in various countries throughout the world: United States, Italy, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Philippines. Karla not only speaks fluently numerous languages but also has an understanding of many diverse cultures.
She has worked at Facio & Cañas Law Firm, Costa Rican National Stock Exchange and Freight Payment & Audit American Company (Trax Technologies, Inc).
While working at the Law Firm, Karla concentrated on Corporate Law, advising clients in corporate and real estate matters including purchasing and property developments, mergers, acquisitions and providing advise on strategic and business decisions for investing and setting up businesses in Costa Rica.
During her work at the Stock Exchange, she was responsible for providing legal advise to issuing companies on securities regulations and registration, development and promotion of the stock market in Costa Rica and preparation of legal opinions and memoranda for the Board of Directors on relevant topics.
Most recently she held senior corporate positions at Trax Technologies. Trax is a global leader in the freight payment and audit industry. She was originally asked to join Trax to help establish the Costa Rican office and provide legal advise. She became the Site Manager of the Costa Rican office. Soon thereafter she was asked to move to EMEA Region to take over the European office located in Prague as the Site Manager responsible for the management and oversight of the office. She was the youngest Site Manager in the history of the company. After successfully operating and growing the European office, Karla moved back to Costa Rica to help shepherd the company through various transitions and served in different roles. She worked for Trax for 7 years.
Although Karla has worked hard and accomplished much in her professional life, she lives life to its fullest with many hobbies and interests. She enjoys playing tennis, going to the gym, doing yoga, horseback riding, mountain biking and charity work. Karla enjoys traveling, meeting new people and the exploring new places.
